Pharmaceutical copay

Since January 1, 2021, the pharmaceutical copayment has ceased to be mandatory for six million people from different groups. Among the groups exempt from the pharmaceutical co-payment are people with economic benefits for children or dependent children, pensioners with low incomes and minors with a 33% or more disability.

The exemption of these groups is part of the General State Budget Law for the year 2021 and was included in the BOE on December 31.

There are several groups that were already exempt from pharmaceutical copayment. They are people with disabilities in the cases contemplated in their specific regulations, with social integration income or with non-contributory pensions. As well as unemployed people without the right to subsidy or people affected by the toxic syndrome. Finally, people with treatments derived from work accidents or occupational diseases.

We recommend reading the blog post CINCO SENTIDOS Y MEDIO, by María Rodriguez, in which she details information and procedures related to co-payment, especially for minors with disabilities greater than 33%.
